Tips and tricks to remember humongous data and concepts for studies and self development.

Empowering memory is an important aspect of learning. successful people in almost all the domains have extremely brilliant memory power. All these successful people have developed consciously or unconsciously a technique of remembering things.

In this article, I will elaborate upon the most important tips and tricks that you must follow to make your memory strong. Many psychologist provide this training with by charging hefty fees,  but I am providing you free of cost.

1. Healthy food:

Eating healthy food is something which contributes to your memory power. Drinking smoothies, avocado and chocolates can help your brain to develop new neurons. Eat the food which helps you develop the neurotransmitters like acetylcholine.

2. Exercise:

Cardiovascular exercises which increases the blood supply in your brain should be done at least 15 minutes a day. Here I must clarify that you don't need to stress out by doing exercise. There is a misconception that you need to work very very hard to develop your body and mind. 15 minutes a day is more than enough for you to develop your brain as well as mind.

3. Healthy Learning Habits:

Kick start your day with a plan of learning. Clean the place where you want to sit for studies. Keep everything arranged around you. Things kept near you at as cues for you to recollect things. Students who need to study for long hours, shall take a break of 10 minutes after every 45 minutes. As this is psychologically proven that nobody is able to concentrate for more than 8 minutes over one thing, it's recommended that you take a break after 45 minutes to reset your brain.

Taking a break also helps you to segregate two sessions of studies and the information stored in the brain based on the timeline in which you have studied.

4. Target based studies:

Now here by target I do not mean the number of pages. people should have a target everyday for completing a topic rather than completing pages. Many students keep a target of completing a set number of pages everyday which is incorrect. the targets must be set on the basis of the complete syllabus which you wish to cover, equally divided in the number of days.

5. Develop your pictographic memory:

Picturising the concepts helps us remember things for a long period of time. It makes the explanation sequential and helps us remember things in in correct sequence. This can prove to be essential method of learning in certain subjects which require you to follow certain set rules of sequences. For example, commercial pilots require landing and takeoff procedure to be remembered  and executed in a predefined sequence failing which may prove to be dangerous.

6. Taking sound sleep.

For the development of the new neurons , we need to take sound and undisturbed sleep of at least 7 hours a day. At the end of the fourth hour, the brain get into REM (Rapid Eye Movement) level . At this stage the brain releases alpha waves which help to develop new neurons. Sleep also resets your brain and makes it fresh for the next round of learning session.

7. Making Notes

Notes making does not mean writing the same content again. It means giving your brain certain cues which will help you remember the complete concept or topic you studied. This helps in quick revision of whatever you have studied. Notes making saves time in your second or third reading of any topic or subject

8. Revision

Out of all the points that we discussed in this article, revision is the most important key to remember the humongous data. Due to the natural process of neuron degeneration, you tend to forget many things after a period of time. Hence it's very much important for you to revise whatever you have studied. This process acts like making multiple copies of the same data in different parts of your hard drive (brain).
