Civil services examination conducted by UPSC is regarded as the mother of all examinations. Preparation needs a dedicated approach with focus on areas which are asked the most in the examination. While doing so, 99% of the aspirants commit huge mistakes which deferred their success or even lead to their failures.
In this article, you will learn about the common mistakes done by the aspirants which lead to their disastrous failure.
1) Not starting the preparation at the early age:
With the awareness about civil services as a robust career more number of students are moving towards civil services examinations. The competition is increasing day by day and hence it is recommended for the students to start the preparation directly after XII standard.
This reduces the excess burden after graduation and the student is almost ready for giving the examination once he graduates. This says a lot of time and helps the student to appear for the examination without fear.
Students starting late, always face problems while handling their parents and other financial difficulties. During graduation at least 30% of the study time should be dedicated towards civil services preparation ,whereas ,rest of the 70% should be given to the graduation subjects.
2) Referring multiple books, notes and online material:
There is enormous material available for the preparation of UPSC. Whereas the authenticated data is very less. the students at the beginning do not know about which books would be good for them and which books are not.
hence it is always recommended for the students to first of all find out the right reference books and notes and then only start the preparation. there are various websites as well which give the knowledge about civil services examinations. But the question is, how to choose amongst them?
Remember, clearing civil services examinations is not about reading multiple books but reading limited books multiple Times. And whichever notes or online material you follow, you must follow it religiously.
I will be making a separate video for all this authentic books and notes that a student must refer to clear the examination.
3) Taking multiple guidance:
Like multiple books there are multiple guides as well. Students must not follow all the guidances given by various different mentors. Student must choose only one mentor and follow him or her throughout the journey of preparation.
Yes! you need a mentor for preparing for the exam. But How to find one? I will be making another video in which I will answer the question- how to get a mentor? Stay tuned for the same.
